Roo in Costa Mesa, CA

Warm, wise and welcoming, Roo is a gentle Tri-Color girl of a certain age. Sweet Roo is looking for a forever home where she can provide companionship and cuddles.

There are many paths to Cavalier Rescue USA and Roo’s has been an adventurous one. Roo spent her youth in Australia, producing several litters of adorable puppies before immigrating with her family to the US. This lovely girl came to rescue when her family faced yet another move to a home that didn’t allow for pets. Roo is taking the transition to foster care in stride, waiting patiently, sweetly and enjoying her foster family and new adventure in America.

Easy-going Roo has captured the heart of her foster dad and become a precious pal to their young daughter. When not lounging around the house or snoring away during siesta, Roo loves to go for leash walks around the neighborhood.  However, her very favorite thing is to hop in the car and go for a ride – especially when the car is headed to foster dad’s dog-friendly workplace where Roo spends a few days a week getting to know the Yanks. Roo is great around other dogs, is unfazed by cats and is very gentle with children.

Beautiful Roo has been blessed with a gorgeous, luxurious Cavalier coat. She has some moderate health issues including dry eye (left eye) and a grade 3 heart murmur – both of which are managed with daily meds and are not uncommon for a Cavalier of approximate age 10. Roo’s foster mom and dad have this plus-size girl on a weight loss program. While she is hard of hearing, Roo is still plenty spunky. She’ll give you a nudge when she wants affection and will give a tap on the door to let you know when she wants to go outside for play or potty. Just a few days ago Roo mastered the use of the doggie door.

This easygoing, accommodating, girl will likely do great in any home - but she (and we) yearn for a home where her people are mostly present during the day - or have the capability to take a good dog to work.
