Fancee and Jasmine in Austin, TX

Just Adopted!

This 4-year old bonded pair of littermates came to rescue when their owner could no longer care for them. Fancee is the Tri-Color Cavalier and Jasmine is the Blenheim. Loving and sweet, they are not only bonded to each other, they are bonded to their person. In true Cavalier fashion, they follow their foster Mom’s every move and want to be with her wherever she is.

Both girls have been well-cared for and are spayed and micro-chipped. They are also up-to-date on vaccines and preventatives. Their health is good. While in foster care, Fancee has been treated for a urinary tract infection. Jasmine has been treated for an abscess on her left front paw and a papilloma has been observed in her right ear; both issues should be monitored for re-occurrence, but no treatment or procedure is currently required.

The pair immediately made themselves at home with the three other dogs in their foster family. Fancee is a spirited personality and keeps a close eye on Jasmine so that she is able to check on her; she will curl up nearby wherever Jasmine is sleeping. Jasmine is quieter and less active; she is happiest curled up in your lap or nearby you. At night, the girls have been sleeping together in a large crate. Fancee will be fussy initially, but soon settles with Jasmine for the night. Once they get into a permanent home, they would probably be perfectly open to sleeping in the bed with their human family because these girls love to snuggle!

The girls will need supervision for housetraining, especially initially. Both pups are reliable when taken out on leash for a walk and when taken outside regularly, but they will have accidents inside if they aren’t reminded to go outside. They seem to prefer doing their “business” on hard surfaces, like pavement, concrete and/or pavers. They do not like to walk on wet grass. Fancee has learned to use her foster’s doggy door and follows her foster’s pack when they head outside to chase squirrels or warn off pedestrians passing by. Jasmine will stay inside, even when the pack exits via the doggy door, because she has been reluctant to push against the flap of the doggy door for exit and entry. It seems Jasmine’s preference is to be inside, but her foster Mom thinks she will eventually learn to use the doggy door with continued positive training.

The girls enjoy their morning walks. They are good on a leash, at bath time and in a car. The girls have been given short summer cuts, but their hair will grow back. Jasmine should lose a couple of pounds. Fancee will bark for attention. Whereas Jasmine rarely barks, but she will whine for attention occasionally.

Fancee and Jasmine are fostered in Austin, TX. Because they are bonded, we are looking for a forever home that can adopt them together. These pups will be happiest in a home with people around during much of the day and a fenced yard.
