Andy and Tia in Wilmington, NC

Adoption Pending!

Meet the sweet duo, Andy (6 year old  Black and tan male) & Tia (4 year old tricolor female). In true Cavalier form, these two pups are a perfect balance of loving and playful. They were surrendered to rescue when their family, who had them both since they were puppies, could no longer care for them. Upon entering rescue, they were neutered/spayed, had a dental and were microchipped. They are up to date on vaccines, and heart worm and heart murmur negative!

This pair is clearly bonded to each other, but adapts well with other dogs as well. Tia is a social butterfly and greets all new people, while Andy would rather chase butterflies in the yard.

Tia is an incredibly gentle lady, who is happiest when sitting on a lap. She doesn’t hold back on affection and loves to give kisses, both to her people and to Andy. She also loves a good game of tug of war and with a little coaxing, will join her foster siblings in chasing a ball.

Tia gets nervous when her foster parents are getting ready to leave the house, even for a short bit. She does well with a distraction, such as a KONG. She would do best with a family that is home most of the day, as she loves to always be near her people. She takes a little longer to adjust to new situations and is nervous while riding in the car, but with reassurance she calms down and settles into a place of confidence. She is very quiet and hardly ever barks, except when she is really excited.

Andy has an adventurous spirit and loves to spend time outside exploring his domain. He enjoys chasing birds and squirrels around the yard and is always sure to sniff every inch of his space. When Andy is done playing, he loves nothing more than to lie beside his people, roll on his back and get a belly rub.

When Andy is especially happy he will give a little kiss on the cheek to let you know he is having a good day. He is more independent than Tia, but that doesn’t mean he loves you any less. His face lights up when you call his name and he will joyfully romp across the room to be in your arms. He is a gentle soul and always eager to please.

Both Tia and Andy do well with children and other dogs. This pair will be happiest with someone home much of the time and a tall fenced yard.

Tia has been diagnosed with dry eye, which doesn’t allow her to produce her own tears. This has been easily cared for with daily eye drops, which she will need to take for the rest of her life. She is fantastic about getting her drops and will climb into your lap when called, and afterwards thank you for helping by licking your hand in appreciation.
