Donations Requested! Bella in OK

11-15-17: Bella just had her first surgery today on her knee and it sounds like all went well! She'll be out of the hospital soon and on the road to recovery.

11-12-17: We are excited to note that this pup's medical care has now been fully funded!

Original Post: This is Bella, a sweet, small, adorable young girl who came from a questionable background. We think she is related to Maddie, our last small girl requiring knee repair. Bella is approximately one years old, weighs in at 7 pounds soaking wet, is playful and smart and has the worst knees the veterinarian has ever seen in his long orthopedic career.

Her legs are crooked and her back feet turn in.  She isn’t in any pain so far and runs with the big dogs, or just for fun around the yard!  She can’t stand up straight on her hind legs and looks like she is getting ready to potty when standing. Bella will be a beautiful bundle of love and fun with good knees!

She loves toys and carries them around with her and sneaks off with the ones other dogs have put down. She goes in a crate, but would prefer to be with another Cavalier. She loves to cuddle and will curl up right next to you now that the weather has cooled down. She is not able to jump, so she needs help getting up in your lap. She has learned to navigate a small set of stairs that help her get on/off the bed.

Bella came to us with ruptured ear drums, ear mites, urine stained fur and a cute puppy attitude. She is not totally house trained yet, but will go near the door.  She is learning to use the dog door, but even with one flap, it is hard for her small self to push it open! Her previous owner was concerned that her toddler would hurt Bella unintentionally because she is so small. I recently had a visit from a 3 year old girl and Bella ran from her. She did come for petting when the girl sat down. It is apparent that very small children frighten her.

Bella requires two knee surgeries that will cost approximately $1000 each. We had to flush her ears and pack them with antibiotics and vaccinate her. We will need to have her spayed and she will require ongoing ear checks. We anticipate her vet bills will be about $2600. Please help if you can! This sweet little gal deserves to run and play like a normal pup without pain.
