Ransom in Weaverville, NC

Update 12-15-17: We think we may have a good home for Ransom, so are only taking back up applications for now. Thank you!

Meet handsome Ransom! This 4-year-old boy came to us after being rescued from a backyard breeding program. Since coming into rescue, Ransom has been completely vetted, neutered, and microchipped. He’s a perfectly healthy, big boy, weighing around 32 pounds.

Ransom is a bit shy when you meet him or when he’s in a new environment, likely because of his lack of socialization in his former home. He has settled in nicely in his foster home and is such a great, fun dog! He’s finally learning what it’s like to be a family pet! He loves toys and running and playing, so a securely fenced in yard is a must for this playful guy! He also truly enjoys the company of his canine foster siblings and often looks to them for security. He prefers a scratch under the chin to a pat on the head but he always will reward you with a fiercely wagging tail.

He’s eager to please and has quickly picked up commands and routines in his foster home. He has not had an accident in the house since his first day. He’ll do just about anything for a belly rub! He loves his foster mom and often greets her with a happy howl! Sometimes he literally dances on his hind legs to let you know how happy he is. He has been going to the office with his foster mom and enjoys the office routine of sitting and being on the phone. He is such a sweet guy, he will follow his foster mom everywhere. He loves to sit close by while his foster mom is knitting.

He’s crate trained and sometimes he just seeks out the crate to chill. He is just now learning how to be a couch potato and watch movies with his foster mom.

He walks well on a leash and he loves his time out. He would walk for miles if you are up for it.

Ransom needs a home with other respectful, playful dogs and with an owner that understands his history and can provide the patience he needs until he settles into his new home. Ransom must have a fenced in yard to run and play in. He’d likely do well with older kids in the home, but not with younger children. He'll be happiest with someone home much of the day. He's a lover boy!
