Copper in Columbus, OH

Just Adopted!

Here is the pup with his new family...

Hi my name is Copper. I am a 1-year-old neutered male and I am as cute as they come! I came into foster care because my family had a child who was allergic to me.

I am very energetic and I love to run and play with my foster bother and once we get tired, I either curl up next to my foster mom on the couch for a relaxing cuddle session or I will cuddle up with my foster brother. I love to chew and if I do not have enough toys, I will steal your clothes. I especially love dirty socks! After all remember, I am still just a young dog.

I am crate trained and sleep in my crate at night most of the time however; my foster mom has allowed me to sleep out of the crate with my foster brother. For the most part, I am potty trained when out of my crate but I still occasionally have accidents. I never have an accident in my crate. My crate does need to be in the same room as where my “person” sleeps. Otherwise, no one will get any sleep because I will bark and cry until I get moved. I am not good at telling when I need to go out so my foster mom will sometime catch me “looking” and if I need to go potty, I will then run to the back door. It also helps that I have foster brothers to help me and I will always follow them outside.

I love to run around the yard and I would love to have a fence. If I bolt out the front door or outside the fence, I think it’s a fun game of chase and good luck catching me! When my foster mom gets her newspaper off the front porch, I go into stealth mode and I try to sneak out before she notices. So care must be taken to watch when doors are opened. Positive obedience training is a must for me.

I am a typical “Velcro dog” and I will follow you everywhere well unless I am sneaking around looking to get into trouble. I know my name and will come when called. My foster mom has been trying to teach me basic commands.

I have a foster cat sister too. She is a grump and hisses at me when I try to play with her. I guess she does not like to be wrestled with and stomped on like my foster brother does. She thinks I am afraid of her but I am not because she does not have claws to scratch my nose. I have not been around kids for awhile but I can tell you that I am so rambunctious and love to jump, and like your face, and nip noses and ears that I would not be great around really small children.

I love to sleep on a chair or the couch. I also will climb on the back of the spot where you are sitting and sit behind your head. I really love to sit on the furniture in front of a window so I can watch what is going on. I am a very nosy puppy and I don’t like to miss a thing. In fact, my foster mom says I am funny because I will fall asleep sitting up and I wake up when I have fallen over.

When it is feeding time, if there are other dogs in the household, I need to be fed in my crate. I am a dominant pup and I will steal everyone else’s meal then go eat mine. I love everyone and for the most part, I do not know a stranger. If you are willing to pet me, I am your new buddy. I walk pretty well on a leash too. I need a harness when outside so I am safer when being walked.

Well, I hope you have enjoyed learning about me and just cannot wait to fill out an application and take me home! I look forward to meeting you soon!
