Peyton in Monticello, IL

Just Adopted!

Here is Peyton with his new family...

Peyton is a 9-year-old world traveler! He came from Australia with his family when he was just a young pup. His family is now returning to Australia and made the difficult decision to place Peyton with Cavalier Rescue USA instead of making him undergo the long quarantine required for him to return with them.

Peyton was an only pet with his family, but has adjusted quickly to three Cavalier foster siblings. He is still a little shy with the youngest dog as he prefers things to be a little more sedate. Peyton plays each night with soft stuffed toys or rope toys that he gets from a toy basket. He entertains himself until he is ready for a nap.

Peyton spent his days loose in his family home with no issues and has been crated during the time his foster family is working and does well. He sleeps in his own dog bed at night in the family bedroom. He would love to be in the big bed! Peyton is reliably house trained. He has only had one accident the first night in foster care and goes willingly out the door with the other dogs. Peyton was used to being taken out on a leash and is now enjoying exploring a fenced yard.

Peyton visited the vet for a check up shortly after arriving at his foster home. Peyton has arthritis in his back legs which requires medication. He takes this pill easily while eating breakfast and dinner. Peyton weighed 28 pounds when he came to rescue and has been on a strict diet to help him lose 3-4 pounds. As with most older Cavaliers, Peyton has a grade 3 heart murmur. It does not require any medication at this time. He is update to date on all shots, neutered, and micro-chipped.

Peyton has been a joy in his foster home! He has the softest fur and enjoys being brushed. Although Peyton misses his family, he has been showing more and more of his fun personality over time. He loves to be with people and enjoys being on the couch cuddling. Don’t let his age be a problem. Peyton is a keeper!
